WhatZit: Let’s Get Comfortable in Our Own Thick Skin

Your skin is your biggest protector and defender, and in this role, it undergoes a fair amount of abuse. From shielding you against the sun’s ultraviolet rays to deflecting harmful bacteria, as well as the odd flying object, your skin’s job is not an easy one. To help your skin do its job better, while still looking great, we want to share our expertise on skincare.

Here at SkinMD, with multiple locations around the greater Chicago area, we believe in partnering with our clients to help them bring out the best in their skin, making them feel more comfortable in the thick skin they’re in. To that end, we’re pleased to host a free open house for students on December 28th where our team of expert dermatologists and skincare specialists will be on hand to offer advice, perform free evaluations of your skin, and answer any and all questions you may have about your skin.

We’ve partnered with several schools for this event, and we’ll cover everything from acne to the best makeup for your skin. With our guidance, we can help your skin not only do its job better but look great while doing it.

#WhatZit

If there’s one word that’s universally despised among teenagers, it’s acne. Whether it’s just an unwelcome spot or two or a severe case of cystic acne, we’ll answer all of your questions and help you sort facts from fiction as you battle the bumps.

To start, we’ll explain what acne is, why it comes on during your teenage years (hint: hormones), and most importantly, what you can do about it. While there’s no cure for acne yet, there’s a lot we can do to clear up the problem.

As dermatologists, we feel it’s important to arm you with the facts about this skin condition in order to save you considerable time and energy on your quest for clearer skin. During our open house, we’ll discuss why greasy foods, sweat, and dirt have little to do with the problem, so you can focus your efforts toward things that will help better manage your acne.

Putting on a mask

When it comes to makeup, the most detailed YouTube video isn’t going to be particularly helpful in determining what’s best for your skin. We understand that, which is why we’re going to have licensed estheticians at the event who will guide you through some of the dos and don’ts when it comes to makeup application.

For example, if you’re battling acne, your makeup goal may be camouflage. Our estheticians will show you how you can cover up without exacerbating your skin condition with harsh chemicals and dyes that may irritate your acne, only making it worse.

If you’re just simply curious about the best way to apply makeup, our application experts will demonstrate how to choose the right foundation, how to best accentuate your eyes, and how to ensure that your skin underneath remains healthy and glowing. These are just a few examples of the many makeup tricks our experts will share during our open house.

Products, services, and fun for everyone

While our open house is meant to help you better understand your skin, we’re also hoping that you come with friends and have some fun exploring the world of skin care. We’ll have products and services available for both males and females, allowing everyone to get in on the skin care action.

If you’d like to learn more about our open house on December 28, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
