PRP Therapy (Hairloss / Vampire Facial) Q & A

PRP for Hair Restoration

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is concentrated with platelets from your own blood which contain several growth factors that stimulate growth and regeneration of collagen and hair follicles.  This can benefit thinning hair by stimulating and strengthening existing hair follicles. However, it does not help to areas of complete baldness. The treatment in our office consists of a vial of blood being drawn from your arm and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells and plasma.  Once the platelet rich plasma has been separated it is then injected into the areas of the scalp that contain thinning hair with the intention of regeneration. This procedure takes about an hour and the side effects are minimal. Treatments are typically performed every month for the first 3-4 months and then maintenance thereafter for optimal hair growth factor stimulation and reducing hair fallout.  PRP has been proven to combat hair loss in over 70% of cases.

Microneedling with PRP Infusion (“Vampire Facial”) - Skin and Facial Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma or PRP is a treatment that involves the use of your own plasma to regenerate new healthy tissue and collagen in the face and/or other areas of concern.  The procedure involves a tube of blood being drawn from your arm and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from your red blood cells. This plasma contains rich growth factors that activate stem cells to generate new, younger tissue resulting in a smoother, youthful and radiant appearance to the skin.  This treatment can be used for acne scarring, general scarring, stretchmarks and overall rejuvenation of the skin. There is minimal risk to this treatment as we are using your own blood and growth factors versus synthetic substances. The number of treatments varies per person, however, it is recommended 3 treatments administered at 4-week intervals until the desired result is achieved and followed with 1-2 maintenance treatments per year.  This procedure has little to no downtime.
